What is the difference between a Shiraz and a Syrah?

The same grape is known as Syrah in France and Shiraz in Australia. The name Shiraz for this grape variety is also commonly used in South Africa and Canada. In the United States, it is found under both names depending on the winery.

Girlan Toretto Bianco 2006, Italy

Photo

A bright, fresh wine from Northern Italy made from a blend of Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. This blend of grapes brings out both fruit and mineral notes in the wine. It is great paired with most fish dishes as well as salads and grilled vegetables.
