Jill first became a wine lover casually: sharing a bottle with friends at a restaurant, having a glass of red while watching her favorite TV shows, and looking forward to a bubbly flute of Champagne on New Year’s Eve. Soon she thirsted to learn more and enrolled in the French Culinary Institute, where she received both the Culinary Degree and Wine Certificate. Since then, Jill has truly covered the gourmet gamut—from writing wine articles for magazines and styling food for photo shoots, to developing recipes for cookbooks and traveling across the globe in search of her next favorite bottle of wine. But at her heart, she’s still the same laid-back wine lover as when she started—whether she’s visiting a vineyard and interviewing a winemaker or just drinking Shiraz with a plate of wings at her Super Bowl party.
Goal: To make wine easy and fun for everyone.
Favorite wine region: It changes everyday, but right now I can’t get enough of Bordeaux.
The best place to enjoy a glass of wine: Anywhere and everywhere. What I love about wine is that it’s just as appropriate at a fancy restaurant as it is for a movie night at home.
Can’t miss food & wine pairing: Sushi and Torrontes (a delicious crisp white wine from Argentina that goes great with tuna and yellowtail).
Craziest thing I ever did in the name of wine and food: I once ran through a hailstorm in Paris just to find some cheese to go with a bottle of Burgundy I’d opened. I’ve got to say: it was worth ruining those shoes.
What I’m doing when I’m not thinking about, writing about, or drinking wine: Cooking, skiing, traveling, throwing dinner parties (ok, that does include wine).
