
The essence of the new down home: downtown cookbook can best be described by the quote from the book: “The vision of Rodney Strong Vineyards is the same as that of Zin Restaurant & Wine Bar and Syrah Bistro: to harvest Sonoma County’s bounty to produce products that use only the highest quality of ingredients.”
The book is a collaboration of the vineyard, restaurants and wine country photographer, Alan Campbell, to present some of the great food and wine from Sonoma County. The book offers seasonal recipes from two Sonoma Wine Country Restaurants each with a wine pairing (suggested style instead of specific bottle). A lot of cookbooks and wine books come across my desk every day and it becomes harder and harder to catch my attention but this book really did. Down home: downtown really captures the essence of wine country cooking and what it means to eat local.
The book also includes great tips on Basic Wine-Pairing Principles, Storage and Serving from Winemaker Rick Sayre.
